Every summer, there’s nothing I look more forward to than weekend getaways in Montauk. And in Montauk, there’s nothing I look more forward to than dinner at The Crow’s Nest. The setting, the vibe, the service, the food… It excels in all. The Crow’s Nest is the best restaurant on the East End. That pretty much sums it up.

The Crow’s Nest opened in 2011 as an Inn and a New American/ Mediterranean restaurant, located on Old West Lake Drive on Lake Montauk. The best word to describe the venue is “divine”.

The Crow's Nest

Serene & romantic outdoor leading down to the water

You walk into a spacious, beautifully lit lawn that leads down to the water. This outdoor space has all the essentials for a perfect romantic summer evening: fairy lights, a fire pit and beautiful waterfront views.

Get there in time for the stunning sunset view over Lake Montauk

Come early for sunset drinks (and small plates) in the outdoor yard, before making way to the restaurant’s rustic indoor for dinner. The restaurant’s interior is warm and welcoming, with bare wood decor, a buzzing bar space, and an airy dining room with windows overlooking the twinkly lit yard. The Crow’s Nest does not take reservations, so make sure you come super early to put your name in for a table (the waiting list fills up very quickly).

Fresh Ricotta

Fresh Ricotta, white truffle, local honey

Everything on the menu is perfectly executed and made with notable fresh ingredients. But two dishes stand out and are absolute must orders: the $22 Fresh Ricotta appetizer and the $35 Blue Crab Claw Tagliatelle. The Ricotta is prepared with white truffle, honey and served with this perfectly smoked grilled bread. I don’t know what they put on that bread but it blows my mind at every bite. The Crab Tagliatelle is possibly one of the best seafood pasta dishes I’ve ever had. Perfectly al dente, with generous chunks of real fresh crab, and most certainly a scandalous amount of butter. Trust me on this – nothing else on the menu compares to these two dishes. The price tag is hefty, especially since you will most probably be having several glasses of rosé or their Watermelon Cooler cocktail throughout the night (it’s summer after all), but well worth it.

The picture doesn’t do it justice: the perfectly executed Blue Crab Claw Tagliatelle – $35

Even though The Crow’s Nest is always busy and crowded, the service is always gracious, friendly and unpretentious (which cannot be said of a many places in the Hamptons…)

The Crow’s Nest is the best restaurant in Montauk for its location, atmosphere and food. The serene romantic setting makes it a perfect spot for a Summer Hamptons wedding (hint hint 😉 ).
