Hobart is a tiny little town in Catskills’ Delaware County 3 hours north of Manhattan, known for its bookstores and… that’s pretty much it! However, ever since its opening in October 2016, The Bull & Garland has become Hobart’s 2nd main attraction for locals, upstate New York weekenders and visitors alike.

Bull-Garland-English-225x300The Bull & Garland is a quaint English Pub and Inn in a historical setting, opened by an English couple who escaped the world city life for the Catskills countryside. The Bull & Garland is great for a relaxing stay at one of their cute guest rooms, but most of all is a great dinner pit stop. The warm rustic atmosphere, the welcoming pub feel, the friendly staff and the hearty food is what The Bull & Garland is all about.

There are too separate dining rooms, one for larger tables in a more quiet and lit setting, but the best seats are by the cozy bar area where you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to London. Better yet, if the weather cooperates, sit outside by the picnic area surrounded by greenery (if you’re lucky there will be some live music playing).

The menu changes seasonally and features pub-food staples like fish and chips, and decadent English savory pies. Dishes are hit-or-miss, but overall tasty and satisfying, and portions are more than generous. The full bar has a large selection of beer, wine and in-house cocktails, and service is incredibly hospitable and friendly (the owner Oliver is a very nice chap!).
